Perris Woman Killed in DUI Crash on 15 Freeway in Temecula

Temecula, Californai (August 22, 2020) – A woman was killed, and two other people were injured early Saturday morning in an alleged DUI car accident on a freeway in Temecula, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened at about 1:05 a.m. on the 15 Freeway,  just south of Rancho California Road.

The CHP said a 2004 Scion XA was traveling southbound on the freeway when the driver abruptly turned toward the right and veered off the roadway. The vehicle then went down an embankment and crashed into a tree.

The driver and two passengers were transported to Inland Valley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. One of the passengers, only identified as a 38-year-old Perris woman, later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The woman was riding in the front seat of the vehicle. Her name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Scion was placed under arrest on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, according to the CHP.

The accident remains under investigation.
