Peggy McClendon ID’d as One of Elderly Women Killed in Carmichael Pedestrian Accident on Arden Way

Sacramento, California (March 25, 2019) – Authorities have identified one of the two elderly women who were struck and killed by a vehicle Friday morning in the Carmichael area of Sacramento as Peggy McClendon, 72, of Carmichael.
The tragic accident took place at about 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 22 on Arden Way.
According to the California Highway Patrol, McClendon and another woman were walking along the right shoulder of Arden Way when they were hit by a westbound vehicle driven by a 16-year-old girl.
The CHP said the teen drifted to the right shoulder and struck the two women who were walking along on the shoulder.
Elderly Women Killed in Carmichael Pedestrian Accident
McClendon and the other unidentified woman were transported to a hospital with major injuries, where McClendon died Friday while the second woman succumbed to her injuries Saturday.
The teenage motorist stopped at the scene and complied with investigators. Neither alcohol nor drugs were considered a factor in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
