59-Year-Old Man Killed in Highway 99 Pedestrian Accident near Avenue 76 in Earlimart

Earlimart, California (March 13, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday morning south of Earlimart, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The tragic accident happened just after midnight on Highway 99, just south of Avenue 76.
The CHP said the pedestrian was attempting to cross Highway 99 when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Latoya Fernandez, 41, of Clovis, who was heading northbound.

According to the CHP, the pedestrian, only identified as a 59-year-old man walked into traffic and Fernandez swerved and hit her brakes to avoid the accident, but ended up hitting the man.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
