San Diego, California (February 1, 2020) – A deadly pedestrian collision was reported on Friday morning near Camp Pendleton in San Diego County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision took place on I-5 near Aliso Creek Rest Area, January 31, at around 6:15 p.m.

As per the CHP officials, a pedestrian alighted from a vehicle parked on the Interstate 5 Freeway and attempted to cross the roadway by foot. Unfortunately, the victim was struck by several vehicles that were heading north.

Fatal Pedestrian Collision near Camp Pendleton

Firefighters responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the crash site. The name of the victim was not immediately released.

Officials closed all the four lanes of the freeway following the collision. The roadway was opened as of 12:00 noon.

An investigation is underway.
