Nicholas Whittlesey Victim Seriously Hurt in Nevada County Pedestrian Accident on Newtown Road and Highway 49

Nevada County, California (December 31, 2019) – Authorities has identified the victim who was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle on Sunday evening in Nevada County as 70-year-old Nicholas Whittlesey of Grass Valley.
According to a local news source, the major-injury collision happened at around 6:20 p.m. December 29, on Newtown Road and Highway 49.
Police said Whittlesey was struck by a GMC pickup driven by 52-year-old Jeffrey Scott Baumgartner on Highway 49 while crossing from the Willo restaurant.
The initial report showed that Baumgartner was making a left turn on Newton Road at approximately 30-35 mph at the time of the collision.
70-Year-Old Nicholas Whittlesey Seriously Hurt in Nevada County Pedestrian Accident
Whittlesey sustained severe injuries in the crash. He was rushed to Sutter Roseville Medical Center by emergency crews for treatment.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors in the accident. The crash remains under an active investigation.
