3 Men Killed in Palmdale Big Rig Collision on 55th Street East and Pearblossom Highway
Palmdale, California (July 23, 2019) – Three men were killed in a violent crash involving a big rig Tuesday morning in Palmdale, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash took place at about 7:00 a.m. on 55th Street East and Pearblossom Highway just south of the Antelope Valley Swap Meet.
CHP officials said a Nissan truck was headed southbound on Pearblossom when it collided with a big rig traveling northbound. The force of the impact caused the big rig’s cabin to burst into flames.
Three men occupied the Nissan truck. Two of them were pronounced dead at the crash scene. The third victim was taken to an area hospital where he died of his injuries.
The male driver of the big rig sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said the Nissan truck appears to have veered into oncoming traffic causing the crash.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.
CHP is investigating the accident.
