2 Women Seriously Injured in Palm Springs Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on Calle Encilia; Leroy Silva Arrested
Palm Springs, California (July 30, 2019) – Two pedestrians were seriously injured Saturday night in an alleged hit-and-run accident in Palm Springs, police said.
The crash took place at around 7:50 p.m. Saturday, July 27 on Calle Encilia between Andreas and Amado roads.
According to a local news source, two 67-year-old women were crossing Calle Encilia inside the crosswalk when they were hit by a black colored sedan driven by Leroy Patrick Silva, 84, of Palm Spring.
The two women sustained possible life-threatening injuries and were both treated at the scene before being taken a hospital. One of them was listed in critical condition in an intensive-care unit.
The names of the patients at this time were not disclosed.
Suspect Leroy Silva Arrested after DUI Hit-and-Run Accident in Palm Springs
Police said Silva fled the scene after the accident and was later found near Indian Canyon Drive and Mel Avenue. He was arrested and was taken into custody at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning with bail set at $500,000 bail.
The crash remains under investigation.
