Palm Desert, California (January 8, 2019) – A motorcyclist was severely injured after a traffic collision Monday morning in the area of Palm Desert, according to a local news source.

The accident happened a while before 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 6, at Monterey Avenue and Arboleda Drive.

As per the report, a motorcyclist was traveling south on Monterey Avenue at an unknown speed when it crashed into the back of a vehicle. The impact ejected the rider from his bike and he landed in the median.

Responding firefighters along with paramedics attended to the victim who suffered severe non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision. The victim who was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Motorcycle parts and other debris were scattered across the roadway following the accident.

The involved driver did not suffer injuries in the accident.

Authorities closed the roadway for about two hours to give way to an on-scene investigation.

Authorities said that alcohol and/or drug intoxication were not ruled out as possible factors that contributed to the collision.

An investigation is underway.
