Oroville, California (February 14, 2019) – Authorities are investigating a major injury crash that occurred Thursday morning at an intersection in Oroville, according to a local news source.
The collision occurred at about 6:50 a.m. in the area of Larkin Road and Almond Avenue.
According to officials, a Ford Focus hydroplaned and landed on the flooded side of Larkin Road, in the Orchard. The driver of a Jeep was attempting to pull the Ford Focus out of the water, when the driver of a Hyundai sped around the corner, hydroplaned and struck the Jeep and a pedestrian.
It was immediately unclear if the pedestrian was one of the drivers. Authorities said an unknown number of parties sustained major injuries as a result of the crash.
The accident caused the closure of Larkin Road as emergency crews work to clear the site of the accident. The road was not closed by flooding, but the road was wet, and investigators believed this was a weather-related multi-car crash.
No further details were immediately available, and the crash remains under investigation.
