Man, Woman and Child Killed in Ontario Truck Accident on Interstate 10 near Haven Avenue
Ontario, California (June 17, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Tuesday morning semi-trailer accident that killed a man, a woman, and a child in Ontario.
The crash happened at about 9:30 a.m., on June 16, in the No. 3 lane of eastbound Interstate 10, just west of Haven Avenue.
A 2011 Volvo tractor pulling a semi-trailer was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 when it rear-ended a 2002 Chrysler Voyager van that was stopped due to traffic ahead, the California Highway Patrol said.
The force of the impact pushed the Chrysler Voyager crashing into the rear trailer of a 2015 Volvo, said the officials.
A witness told the police that the 2011 Volvo was driving at about 60 miles per hour and did not appear to be trying to stop before the crash.
Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10 in Ontario
The occupants of the Chrysler Voyager, a woman about 25 years old, a man about 25 years old, and a child about seven years old, were all pronounced dead at the scene.
The 2011 Volvo driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
