Redding, California (December 27, 2020) – The police officer who was injured Tuesday night in a traffic accident at an intersection in Redding has been identified as Officer Kyle Lovelady.

The crash occurred a little after 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, at the intersection of California and South Streets.

Authorities said a 21-year-old woman was driving her car eastbound on South Street when she allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and broadsided the patrol vehicle driven by Lovelady.

Due to the impact, the patrol car sustained major damage.

Lovelady suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by responding paramedics. The civilian driver was uninjured.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
