La Quinta, California (June 13, 2021) – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau has identified the pedestrian who died Saturday, five days after being struck by a suspected hit-and-run driver at an intersection in La Quinta as Obed Heredia, 30, of La Quinta.

The collision happened at approximately 5:24 a.m. on June 7 at the intersection of Calle Sinalo and Avenida Mendoza.

Heredia was reportedly hit by a vehicle at the La Quinta intersection in unclear circumstances.

Heredia was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs in critical condition. On Saturday, June 12, his condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to his injuries.

As per the report, the driver of the involved vehicle escaped the scene without rendering aid to the patient.

The accident resulted in the closure of the intersection as investigation and clean-up took place.
