Novato, CA: Major Injury Crash on Highway 101 near Atherton Avenue
1 Hospitalized after Highway 101 Car Accident near Atherton Avenue in Novato
Novato, California (June 21, 2020) – One person was hospitalized with major injuries after a Highway 101 car accident that happened Saturday in Novato, as per the California Highway Patrol.
Two vehicles collided at about 12:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway just south of Atherton Avenue.
First responders found a silver Toyota sedan and a black truck with a camper shell involved in the crash.
Reportedly, the sedan overturned in the crash but was found on its wheels by the responders.
One of the cars had three occupants at the time of the collision.
Authorities said one person who suffered major injuries was taken to Marin General Hospital for treatment.
Officers closed the Nos. 2 and 3 lanes of southbound Highway 101 at Atherton Avenue following the accident. All lanes were reopened at 1:22 p.m.
CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
