Sacramento, California (December 25, 2020) – A 24-year-old woman from North Highlands was killed in a Thursday afternoon two-vehicle accident that left several other people injured in Sacramento, authorities said.

The deadly head-on collision happened at about 12:45 p.m. on Roseville Road, just south of Oakhollow Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a red Toyota Corolla, driven by a 22-year-old woman from North Highlands, was traveling northbound on the roadway when it crossed into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a GMC Sierra.

The 24-year-old woman, who was the right rear passenger in the Toyota Corolla, sustained fatal injuries in the accident. A 26-year-old woman from Rancho Cordova, who was in the front passenger seat, suffered life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was hospitalized with major injuries while the truck’s driver suffered minor injuries. The driver of the GMC, a 57-year-old man from Sacramento, sustained minor injuries.

Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
