Nicholas Utne ID’d as Person Injured in Trinity River Car Crash on Highway 299

Trinity River, California (January 18, 2021) – Nicholas Utne, 35, Weaverville, has been identified as the victim who was injured in a head-on crash that killed a man on Monday morning in Trinity River, authorities said.
The deadly two-vehicle accident happened at about 8:10 a.m. on Highway 299.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Korson Coulter, 21, of Redding, was headed eastbound on the highway approaching a left curve in the roadway. At the same time, a westbound Ford pickup, driven by Utne, was entering a right turn on the highway.
Unfortunately, the Ford drifted from the westbound lane into the eastbound lane, directly into Coulter’s Chevrolet path. The two vehicles collided head-on, the officials said.
Following the collision, Coulter’s Chevrolet veered off the roadway and crashed down into a dirt embankment. The Ford pickup continued in a southwest direction and came to rest on its wheels, blocking the highway’s eastbound lane.

Sadly, Coulter Sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
Utne sustained minor injuries.
Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
