King City, California (November 5, 2019) –  35-year-old Nazaria Rivera Garcia of King City has been identified as the woman killed after a fiery King City crash that happened on Sunday night in the area of King City, according to a local news source.

The crash happened at about 7:37 p.m. Sunday, November 3, on eastbound Highway 198, just east of Pine Valley Road.

As per the report, 39-year-old Kyle Anthony Griffith of Simi Valley was heading west on Highway 198 in a 2009 Toyota truck when he illegally attempted to pass another vehicle. Griffith then crossed over the double-yellow lines and into the path of a 1992 Nissan truck.

Griffith and his passenger managed to escape the pickup before it was engulfed in fire, starting a vegetation fire that was contained at about 500 square feet.

Griffith’s passenger sustained severe injuries in the crash. Authorities said the patient was wearing a seatbelt but Griffith was not.

The impact ejected the Nissan pickup driver and he suffered severe injuries. He was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

Nazaria Garcia was declared dead at the crash site. Neither Nazaria nor the driver was wearing seatbelts at the time.

Authorities later arrested Griffith on suspicion of murder, vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and with gross negligence and DUI resulting to the death of Nazaria. The suspect is in custody at the Monterey County Jail on a $1.34 million bail. A court date is yet to be listed in electronic Monterey County Superior Court records.
