2 Injured in National City Crash at Highland Avenue and 30th Street

National City, California (July 1, 2021) – Two people were injured Friday morning in a head-on crash in National City, according to police.
The collision was reported at around 10:19 a.m. Friday, June 25, at the intersection of Highland Avenue and 30th Street.
Police said a man was driving an Infinity northbound on Highland Avenue when he failed to stop for a stop sign and struck a Toyota pickup that was heading westbound on 30th Street. That impact caused the Toyota to spin.
The Infinity then collided head-on with a Nissan that was sitting in the left turn lane, waiting for the light to turn green.
After the crash, the Infinity burst into flames and was extinguished by responding fire crews.
2 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash in National City
The driver of the Infinity was transported to a local hospital with a broken elbow/arm and an ankle. The Toyota driver was also taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
Authorities said the man driving the Infinity allegedly ran a red light because of being late to a dental appointment.
Further details regarding the crash were not immediately available.
The collision remains under investigation.
