Motorcyclist Killed in Traffic Crash at Bear Valley Parkway and Birch Avenue in Escondido

Escondido, California (August 2, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a collision with an SUV at an intersection in Escondido, according to a local news source.  

The deadly collision happened at around 3:55 p.m. Saturday, August 1 at the intersection of Bear Valley Parkway and Birch Avenue.  

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 29-year-old Escondido man was riding his Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Birch Avenue when he collided with an Acura SUV that entered the intersection on a green light.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.  

A passenger in the Acura, a 71-year-old woman, was transported to Palomar Medical Center for precautionary reasons.   

The driver of the Acura was not injured.  

Police closed the intersection as they investigated the accident.
