Simi Valley, California (July 12, 2021) – 69-year-old Keith Sanbonmatsu has been identified as the Arroyo Grande motorcyclist who died following a traffic collision in Simi Valley Friday afternoon, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

The deadly motorcycle crash took place at First Street and Los Angeles Avenue just about 1:15 p.m.

The accident involved a motorcycle ridden by Sanbonmatsu and an SUV that crashed on the northbound side of First Street in the afternoon hours.

The Simi Valley Police Department and Ventura County Fire Department report indicated that Sanbonmatsu was riding onto northbound First Street directly into the path of the SUV prior to the wreck.

Keith died at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks just about 8:30 p.m., the same day, while undergoing treatment of critical injuries.

The involved driver, a 17-year-old Simi Valley girl, was not believed to have been intoxicated at the collision time.
