Monterey County, California (October 5, 2019) – One person was killed and four others injured after a traffic collision Friday evening in Monterey County, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The collision happened at around 6:30 p.m. Friday, October 4, on Espinosa Road, east of State Route 183.
As per the report, a pickup truck and a sedan crashed head-on for reasons still under investigation.
Fatal Head-On Crash in Monterey County
Responding emergency crews confirmed one person dead as a result of the crash. Four other persons suffered moderate injuries and were transported to Natividad Medical Center for treatment.
The names of the victims were not immediately released.
Authorities said that they did not suspect alcohol or drugs to have played a role in the crash.
Tow trucks were requested to remove the vehicles from the crash site.
Espinosa Road was closed following the crash and drivers were warned to avoid the area. The roadway was re-opened as of 9:24 p.m.
No other information concerning this crash was provided.
An investigation is underway.
