Monica Lopez ID’d as 1 of 2 Killed in Jurupa Valley Crash on Van Buren Boulevard at 56th Street
Jurupa Valley, California (March 4, 2021) – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has identified one of the two women who died Saturday evening following a traffic accident in Jurupa Valley as Monica Lopez, 35, of Riverside.
The accident happened at about 6:34 p.m. Saturday, February 27, on southbound Van Buren Boulevard at 56th Street.
According to the authorities, a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department patrol SUV was stopped at the scene of a previous crash when it was hit by an Amazon delivery van that was traveling southbound on Van Buren Boulevard.
The force of the impact pushed the SUV into two Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies and two women who were standing at the scene.

Lopez and the other woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Both deputies were transported to Riverside Community Hospital with major injuries.
The driver of the Amazon van complained of pain and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
Van Buren Boulevard was closed between Jurupa Road and Limonite Avenue due to the collision.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the CHP at 951-637-8000.
