36-Year-Old Modesto Man Killed in Stanislaus County Truck Crash on Hammett Road near Covert Road

Stanislaus County, California (October 9, 2020) – A 36-year-old Modesto man was killed in a wrong-way traffic accident on Friday afternoon in Stanislaus County, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly accident transpired at about 1:30 p.m. Hammett Road near Covert Road.
The CHP said a Ford SUV, driven by the Modesto man, drifted into the southbound lane and crashed into a Flory Shuttle Truk, operated by Ampelio Padilla.
As per the official’s report, the SUV struck part of the front end of the Flory.

The Modesto man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Padilla sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the mishap.
The crash remains under investigation.
