Modesto, CA: Hit-and-Run Accident on Dakota Avenue near Beckwith Road
1 Injured in Modesto Car Crash on Dakota Avenue near Beckwith Road; Hit-and-Run Driver Killed
Modesto, California (May 13, 2019) – A driver was injured Friday night in a hit-and-run accident in Modesto, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at around 10:53 p.m. Friday, May 10 on Dakota Avenue, just south of Beckwith Road.
The CHP said a 1999 Lincoln Navigator collided head-on with another vehicle for an unknown reason on Dakota Avenue.
Minor Injury Crash on Dakota Avenue near Beckwith Road
The driver of the unspecified vehicle sustained minor injuries in the crash. The name and condition of the victim at this time were not disclosed.
The driver of the Lincoln reportedly fled the scene and continued traveling southbound on Dakota. At around 11:35, the driver was approximately three miles south on Dakota, south of Maze Boulevard, traveling at an unknown speed when he made an unsafe turning movement and slammed into a wooden fence.

The Lincoln sustained major front-end damage upon the impact. The driver, only identified as a 46-year-old man Modesto, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of family.
It’s undetermined if drugs or alcohol were suspected factors in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
