Midway City, California (January 13, 2021) – A pedestrian in a wheelchair was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday evening at an intersection in Midway City, according to a local news source.

The accident happened just after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, at the intersection of Bolsa Avenue and Jackson Street, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, an elderly man was crossing the intersection in a wheelchair when he was hit by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

The elderly man sustained major injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His name and current condition remained undisclosed.

The hit-and-run suspect was later found near the accident scene.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
