Michael Strausbaugh Killed in Cottonwood Bicycle Accident on Gas Point Road

Cottonwood, California (May 28, 2021) – An Anderson man who was killed in a bicycle accident in Cottonwood on Tuesday morning has been identified as 65-year-old Michael Strausbaugh.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Gas Point Road near Happy Valley Road at about 11 a.m. May 25.

Strausbaugh was riding a bicycle on the roadway when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Victoria McDaniel.

Strausbaugh was pronounced dead at the scene by the Shasta County Coroner.

McDaniel is reported to have fled the scene of the accident after hitting the bicyclist but was located the following day and arrested.

She was booked into the Shasta County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor manslaughter.

More details about the accident were not immediately available.

An investigation into the bicycle accident is ongoing.
