Michael Newquist Injured in Bicycle Accident at Tuolumne Road and Cherry Valley Boulevard
Tuolumne, California (August 29, 2020) – A bicyclist was injured after colliding with a car in Tuolumne on Tuesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 5:29 p.m. August 25, at the intersection of Tuolumne Road North and Cherry Valley Boulevard.
35-year-old Michael Newquist of Tuolumne was riding a bicycle approaching the intersection.
At the same time, 48-year-old Emily Apodaca of Sonora was driving a minivan southbound on Tuolumne Road North.
Newquist entered the intersection and crashed into the minivan. He was extricated from underneath the vehicle and was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
Apodaca was unhurt.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
