Redding, California (September 11, 2020) – Michael Barry Garrett, 59, of Redding, has been identified as the pilot who was killed in a Redding plane crash late last month, according to the authorities.

The crash happened at about 6:45 a.m., Thursday, August 27, in a field on Placer Street near Benton Airpark.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson said the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza with four people on board crashed into a ravine after taking off from the airport.

The plane crash started a half-acre vegetation fire that was put out by the firefighter.

Garrett and a passenger were killed in the crash. 

Two other persons in the plane were transported to the hospital in unknown conditions.

Traffic on both directions of Placer Street at Pleasant Street and Airpark Drive due to the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
