Merced, California (September 23, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Union Pacific train Saturday afternoon in Merced, according to a local news source.
The deadly pedestrian accident occurred shortly before 12:50 p.m. Saturday, September 19, in the 200 block of East 16th Street near the Highway 99 overpass.
Authorities said the pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was hit by the train for unknown reasons on East 16th Street.

The pedestrian, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene.
