Menifee, California (June 11, 2021) – A toddler died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon in Menifee, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly pedestrian accident happened at around 3:35 p.m. Thursday, June 10, on Whembly Circle near Cherry Hinton Street.

CHP said a 2-year-old girl was walking in the area when she was hit by a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck that was pulling out of a driveway of a residence on Whembly Circle.

According to the CHP, the driver didn’t notice the girl on the front right side of his vehicle. She was struck by the right front tire at the edge of the driveway.

Riverside County Fire Department paramedics responded to the incident and pronounced the girl dead at the scene of the accident. Her name was not immediately disclosed.

The 35-year-old man who was driving the car stopped at the scene and called 911. He was not arrested.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

The CHP is investigating the accident.
