32-Year-Old Melchor Leyva Killed in Modesto High-Speed Chase Car Crash at 14th and D Streets
Modesto, California (June 15, 2019) – 32 –year-old Melchor Leyva has been identified as one of the Two customers killed after being struck by a vehicle fleeing from the police in Modesto early Saturday morning.
The fatal accident was reported just before 2:00 a.m. June 15, at 14th and D streets near Yosemite Boulevard.
As per the Modesto police, the incident begins when the officers spotted a stolen car at the intersection of at Lakewood and Briggsmore avenues at around 1:45 a.m. The police pursue the vehicle with speeds reaching 100 miles per hour and the suspects shooting at law enforcement during the chase.
The pursuit ends at 14th and D streets when the stolen car jumped a curb and slammed into the seating area of the Taco Vallarta taco truck.

Leyva, together with Pedro Gill, 31, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene following the crash.
Both suspects fled the scene, but were quickly arrested by the police and recovered two weapons. The two victims were later identified as Rodney Quiros, 24, of San Francisco and 22-year old Antonio Gazo of Daly City.
Meanwhile, no further details regarding the wreck have released.
