Matthew Rodrigues Killed in Fowler Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99
Matthew Rodrigues ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Fowler Crash on Highway 99 near Clovis Avenue
Fresno, California (September 28, 2019) – The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle early Friday morning on Highway 99 in Fowler has been identified as Matthew Rodrigues, 29.
The deadly accident took place at about 4:34 a.m. Friday, September 27 on the northbound side of Highway 99, just south of Clovis Avenue off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Rodrigues was attempting to cross Highway 99 when he was struck by a van driven by Jerome Fritas, who was traveling at approximately 55 mph.
The CHP said Rodrigues had pulled over on Highway 99 due to a flat tire and he had ran out of gas.
Rodrigues died in the accident.
Fritas stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The crash is currently being investigated by CHP.
