Matthew Madrid ID’d as Man Killed in Albany Train Accident on Buchanan Street
Albany, California (August 27, 2019) – The coroner’s office have identified the man who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train last week Tuesday in Albany as Matthew Madrid, 42.
The deadly accident took place at around 7:07 a.m. Tuesday, August at Buchanan Street underneath the Interstate 80 overpass.
According to authorities, Madrid was on the railroad tracks when for an unknown reason, he was struck by Amtrak Capitol Corridor train 523, which was on the way from Sacramento to San Jose.
Madrid died in the accident.
None of the 240 passengers and crew members on the train were reported injured.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
