CHP Officer Injured in Martinez Accident on Highway 4 near Interstate 680
Martinez, California (October 27, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Tuesday morning traffic accident that left a CHP officer nursing minor injuries in Martinez.
The two-vehicle accident transpired at about 1:00 a.m. in a construction zone on Highway 4 eastbound at Interstate 680.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a CHP officer was struck in the construction zone by a vehicle fleeing from the Martinez Police.
The CHP officer had full lights on to alert oncoming traffic and protect the workers ahead doing road construction when the suspect’s vehicle rear-ended it, the officials said.

The CHP officer sustained minor injuries in the accident.
