American Canyon, California (July 26, 2019) – 19-year-old Martha Ruth Morales Barrera of American Canyon has been arrested after a hit-and-run pedestrian collision that happened on Thursday morning in American Canyon, according to a local news source.

The collision happened at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 25, at Highway 29 and Rio Del Mar.

As per the report, a 55-year-old American Canyon man was struck by a vehicle driven by Barrera. Officials said Barrera was heading south on Highway 29 when they allegedly ran a red light at Rio Del Mar and hit the pedestrian.

Responding firefighters found the pedestrian lying in the roadway with severe injuries following the crash. The victim was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment.

The patient’s name and their current condition were not immediately released.

Authorities affirmed Barrera did not stop to render aid and reportedly fled south before turning on Poco Way. Two young men were occupying the suspect car at the time.

Officials said a white sedan possibly an Acura, was later seen parked in the 400 block of Canyon Creek Drive with major damage to its front windshield.

Barrera, the suspect driver, later turned herself in to the authorities and was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing injuries.
