Mariel Castaneda Seriously Injured in Turlock DUI Crash on Crows Landing Road near Monte Vista Avenue

Turlock, California (June 20, 2021) – An Atwater woman was seriously injured after she was involved in a deadly head-on crash Saturday night west of Turlock in Stanislaus County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck occurred at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19 on Crows Landing Road, just south of Monte Vista Avenue.
CHP said a 2006 Honda Civic, driven by a Patterson man, was heading northbound on Crows Landing Road at about 45 to 50 mph. The Honda veered into the southbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming 2014 Land Rover Range Rover driven by Mariel E. Castaneda, 26, of Atwater, who was going at approximately the same speed.

Castaneda was transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.
First responders performed CPR on the Patterson man before he was also transported to Doctors Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Alcohol or drugs were considered a factor in the collision.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
