Maribel Lopez ID’d as Man Killed in Shafter Car Accident at Burbank Street and Scaroni Avenue
Shafter, California (September 22, 2020) – Authorities have identified the man who was killed Monday morning in a traffic accident at an intersection near Shafter as Maribel Pimentel Lopez, 30.
The deadly crash happened shortly before 7:03 a.m. Monday, September 21, at the intersection of Burbank Street and Scaroni Avenue southwest of Shafter.
The California Highway Patrol said a gray Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on Burbank Street when it came to a complete stopped at the Scaroni Street intersection.
The Nissan then pulled out of the intersection into the path of a white Chevrolet SUV that was being driven northbound on Scaroni Avenue by Lopez.
The Chevrolet ultimately slammed into the driver’s side door of the Nissan. Due to the impact, both vehicles struck a fence.
Deadly Car Accident on Burbank Street in Shafter
Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, authorities said
No other injuries were reported.
The crash remains under investigation.
