25-Year-Old Mariah Gutierrez Died in Palmdale Car Crash at 110th Street East and Avenue O
Palmdale, California (July 25, 2019) –25-year-old Mariah Gutierrez has been identified as the victim killed in a traffic collision caused by a suspected drunk driver in Palmdale on Sunday night.
The fatal collision was reported at around 9:38 p.m. July 14, at the intersection of 110th Street East and Avenue O.
Palmdale Sheriff’s Department indicated that the accident happened when a 2015 Jeep Cherokee heading northbound on 110th Street failed to stop at a posted stop sign and collided with a 1997 Honda Civic traveling westbound on Avenue O.
The driver of the Honda and his passenger, Gutierrez, sustained severe injuries in the crash. They were transported to Antelope Valley Hospital emergency room for treatment. Gutierrez was sadly pronounced dead at the hospital at about 10:37 p.m. while her driver remains in critical condition.
The driver of the Jeep was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The suspect was taken to Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
