Maria Villegas Injured in Fatal Car Crash on 210 Freeway near Buena Vista Street in Duarte

Duarte, California (December 18, 2019) – 22-year-old Maria Villegas of Panorama City was among two people injured in a fatal car accident in Duarte on Sunday morning.
According to a local news source, the accident happened at about 2:45 a.m. December 15, on Interstate 210 Freeway near Buena Vista Street.
A Toyota Highlander, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Malibu and a Ford Escape were involved in the accident. The vehicles collided while attempting to avoid an abandoned Ford Fusion that was blocking lanes.
The impact ejected one person from the Toyota. The victim, later identified as Jennifer Gainer Goldsbury, 21, of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead by the county coroner’s office.

Villegas was among two other people who were injured in the accident and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Mustang, Carlos Estrada, 25, of Woodlands Hills, was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
