Marcelo Pereira ID’d as Man Killed in Pauma Valley Motorcycle Crash on South Grade Road near Palomar Mountain
Pauma Valley, California (April 12, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Bureau has identified the motorcyclist who was killed Saturday morning in a traffic accident in Pauma Valley as Marcelo Oliva Santos Pereira, 50, of El Cajon.
The deadly crash occurred at around 11:55 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, on South Grade Road near Palomar Mountain.
Authorities said a sedan was heading westbound on South Grade Road when, for unknown reasons, the sedan drifted across the double yellow line into the opposite lane, where it collided with an eastbound motorcycle driven by Pereira.
Pereira was thrown off the bike upon the impact.
Deadly Motorcycle Accident on South Grade Road in Pauma Valley
Pereira was airlifted to Palomar Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police closed the roadway while they conduct an investigation.
No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation by the CHP.
