Man Hospitalized after Santa Cruz Crash on Highway 17 near Pasatiempo Drive

Santa Cruz, California (February 12, 2021) – A man was killed in a Thursday evening traffic accident in Santa Cruz, the CHP said.
The crash occurred at around 5:55 p.m., on February 11, on southbound Highway 17 near Pasatiempo Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Toyota pickup truck went off the east side of the roadway and onto a dirt embankment about six feet away from the highway. It then rolled over and landed onto its roof.
Following the collision, the male driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected onto the roadway, the officials said.
Man Injured in Highway 17 Crash
The man was seriously injured and was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment.
Traffic on the southbound lanes of Highway 17 was closed for an unknown period due to the collision.
Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
