Man Killed after Car Rear-Ends Tractor-Trailer on I-15 in Fallbrook

Fallbrook, California (April 16, 2021) – A rear-end collision has claimed the life of one driver Thursday morning near Fallbrook, authorities said.

The deadly accident happened at around 9:00 a.m. Thursday, April 15, on Interstate 15, just north of Old Highway 395.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 42-year-old man from Baldwin Park, Los Angeles County, was driving a 2021 Dodge Charger southbound on Interstate 15 when, for undetermined reasons, he drifted into the slow lane and crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer.

Despite life-saving measures performed by emergency personnel, the  Baldwin Park man was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

Authorities issued a SigAlert blocking the slow lane until about 12:45 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the CHP’s Oceanside office at (760) 643-3400.
