Elderly Man Dies after Lake County Crash on Highway 20
Lake County, California (January 13, 2021) – An elderly man was killed in a Wednesday afternoon head-on crash that left one other person injured in Lake County, authorities said.
The deadly two-vehicle accident happened at about 4:32 p.m. on Highway 20 near Post Mile 21.10 between Lucerne and Glenhaven.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford Focus sedan, driven by the elderly man, was traveling westbound on the highway when it crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a Ford Escape SUV.
1 Killed, 1 Injured in Highway 20 Crash
The elderly man was taken to Saint Helena Hospital in Clear Lake, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the SUV was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
