Madera County, California (May 5, 2021) – A multi-vehicle crash has claimed the lives of two drivers Wednesday afternoon in Madera County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly accident happened around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue 15 and Road 37.
According to the CHP, a Toyota Camry was heading westbound on Avenue 15 when, for unknown reasons, the driver allowed the vehicle to drift into the eastbound lane, where it collided with a Dodge pickup and then head-on with a Chevy Malibu.
Deadly Car Accident at Avenue 15 and Road 37 in Madera County
The CHP said the drivers of the Toyota Camry and the Chevy Malibu, ages 77 and 25, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been disclosed.
The three drivers were sole occupants of their respective vehicles.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
The authorities shut down Avenue 15 for over an hour due to the wreck.
The crash remains under investigation.
