Chico, California (June 11, 2020) – The Butte County Coroner’s Office has identified Lupe Ortiz, 55, of Los Molinos, as one of the two victims killed in a multi-vehicle accident that also left five others injured on Wednesday night in Chico.

The crash happened at about 12:47 p.m., on June 10, at the intersection of Highway 99 at Neal Road.

A big rig, driven by Jobanjit Singh, 22, of Sacramento, was traveling northbound on Highway 99 when, for unknown reasons, it failed to stop at the intersection, and as a result, it rear-ended a 2015 Honda Accord, the CHP said.

The impact of the collision caused the Honda Accord to smash into several other cars including a 1995 Honda Civic, a 1994 Buick, a 2004 Honda Odyssey, and a 2019 Chevrolet at the intersection, according to the police.
