Santa Maria, California (July 2, 2021) – One of the three people hospitalized after a traffic collision near Santa Maria on Friday morning has been identified as Luis Cardona, 22, of Palmdale, according to CHP.

At around 9:00 a.m. Friday, authorities received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 166 at Tepusquet Road.

Cardona was reportedly driving a GMC west on Highway 166 when he swerved into the eastbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming Porsche that was being driven by Cassie Goff, 46, of Las Vegas.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and extricated parties trapped in the Porsche.

CHP said Cardona suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center.

Goff had major injuries and was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.

A 14-year-old boy from Las Vegas was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of major injuries.

The CHP is conducting an investigation into the incident.
