Buttonwillow, California (January 20, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Wednesday morning traffic accident that killed a 26-year-old man from Lost Hills and left another person injured in Buttonwillow.

The deadly accident happened at about 6:16 a.m. on Lerdo Highway, about a mile west of Main Drain Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Honda sedan was driving westbound on Lerdo Highway when, for unknown reasons, it entered the eastbound lane and crashed head-on with a Kia SUV that was headed eastbound on the highway.

Lost Hills Man Killed in Lerdo Highway Crash

The 26-year-old man from Lost Hills, who was the driver of the Honda, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The operator of the Kia, a 44-year-old driver, was taken to Kern Medical with moderate injuries.

More details about the accident were not immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
