Los Gatos, CA: 1 Killed in Traffic Crash on Northbound Highway 17

Los Gatos, California (February 15, 2019) – One person died in a fiery traffic accident on Thursday afternoon in Los Gatos, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck was reported just before 4:00 p.m. February 14, on northbound Highway 17.

As per the CHP, the collision occurred when a tree fell on the southbound side of Highway 17 and struck a car traveling northbound. The impact caused the motorist to hit several other vehicles. At least five cars were involved in the accident.

The driver of the vehicle struck by the tree was transported to a hospital with major injuries. According to the CHP report, the victim was later confirmed dead.

No details were provided on injuries to other involved motorists.

The crash left all northbound lanes of Highway 17 south of Summit Road blocked by 4:00 p.m. The authorities were able to reopen all lanes at about 7 p.m.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
