Los Angeles, California (April 15, 2021) – A pedestrian died after being struck by two hit-and-run drivers early Monday morning at an intersection in the Florence neighborhood in South Los Angeles, authorities said.

The deadly pedestrian accident happened at around 1:20 a.m. Monday, April 12, at the intersection of Main Street and 70th Street.

According to the authorities, a 35-year-old man was standing in the southbound lanes of Main Street, just north of 71st Street, when he was hit by a light-colored two-door car that was traveling southbound.

After the impact, the man was thrown into the northbound lanes of Main Street.

The driver of the two-door did not stop and fled the scene.

A female motorist traveling northbound on Main Street stopped and exited her vehicle to help the pedestrian. She then re-entered her vehicle after talking with the pedestrian and left the scene.

Moments later, a man driving a light-colored Toyota Prius also stopped near the pedestrian who was lying in the middle of the road.

The Prius driver was checking on the victim when a dark-colored sedan traveling northbound on Main Street ran over the man and dragged him for about 60 feet.

The driver of the sedan did not stop and continued.

Despite life-saving measures performed by medical personnel, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

Authorities are still searching for the two hit-and-run motorists. The light-colored car possibly sustained damage on its front end, hood, and windshield. The dark-colored sedan car had front-end damage.
