Man Killed in Lompoc Motorcycle Accident at Purisima Road and Mission Gate Road
Lompoc, California (June 22, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle Tuesday afternoon near La Purisma Mission in Lompoc, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened at around 2:50 p.m. near the intersection of Purisima Road and Mission Gate Road.
CHP said a 26-year-old Lompoc man was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Purisima Road while a 2017 Volkswagen, driven by Lawrence Li, 67, of Lompoc, was heading northbound on Mission Gate Road.
The Volkswagen reportedly made a left turn onto westbound Purisima Road. For an undermined reason, the rider was thrown off the bike and hit the front of the Volkwagen.
Deadly Lompoc Motorcycle Accident at Purisima Road and Mission Gate Road
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Li did not suffer any injuries.
The crash prompted the officers to temporarily close both lanes of Purisima Road between Mission Gate Road and Highway 246. As of around 5:30 p.m., the road was reopened.
Drugs or alcohol was not considered a factor in the collision.
