Leonardo Cellura Killed in Bicycle Accident on Merriewood Drive in Lafayette

Lafayette, California (July 29, 2020) – The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office has identified the 10-year-old boy who died after being struck by a delivery truck while riding a bicycle Tuesday afternoon in Lafayette as Leonardo Cellura of Lafayette.  

The fatal crash occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, in the 500 block of Merriewood Drive.   

According to the police, Cellura was riding his bicycle on Merriewood Drive when, for unknown reasons, he was hit by an Amazon delivery truck.

Cellura was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.   

The driver of the Amazon truck stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.  It is undermined if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
